At the last Rockin Mompreneur event, I handed out a survey with a series of questions and a section for additional comments. Later when I went over the surveys a topic that it seemed like a lot of the women wanted to cover at the next event was how to get your spouse on board with your business.
This can be a tough one especially if you are passionate about what you do and your spouse just isn’t!
First of all, it is ok if you are going through this. As I was thinking about this awesome topic these three tips came to me. I shot a video and explained the three tips in more depth. I also talked it over with my husband late last night and he agreed these are some good tips. He never really built businesses with me but he was always supportive in what I wanted to do. So here goes!
1. Don’t complain about your business!
Now you all know that there are days where we are on FIRE in our business. It seems that there are new clients/customers coming to us, we made a ton of sales and our income soared that month. Then the next month was a blah month. The ups and downs in business can get us to complain about the situation or point fingers at what others are doing or lack there of. Complaining doesn’t do ANY good and will keep you from moving forward. It will not push your spouse to like or support your business if all they hear is complaints about it.
2. Work your businesses like its your job not a hobby!
Sometimes our spouses can see that we are treating our business like a hobby therefore they don’t take it seriously at all. Take ownership of your business and treat it like the multi-million dollar business you know it will be! Your spouse will respect your business because you treat it like a serious business.
3. Bring in an income!
Ok this one will definitely turn any un-supportive spouse to a supportive one. If you are making an income with your business no one can tell you that it is a dumb idea or that its not working. If you have a monthly obligation to keep your business open like an autoship, and you are making enough to cover that autoship PLUS extra?? Then your business makes a profit every month. You can say your business contributes to the family finances.
Voila! There are my top 3 tips to get your spouse on board with your business. Now here comes the Vlog….
Do you have tips that helped your spouse make that turn to support and like your business? I would love to hear. Comment below and tell us what was the turning point.
