Here are some tips that I have discovered work for me in juggling being a stay at home mom and business owner. Putting your family first and building a business requires some planning, but it is possible to accomplish it!
#1. Look at when you CAN work your business
So many times we tend to focus on when we can’t do something. Focusing on the hours that you CAN work your business is what matters. If you only have one hour a day to make your phone calls, schedule appointments, build relationships then work it in that one hour! Get as much done as you can during that time. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish.
#2. Work from your list of to do items
Make a check list of all the things you need to accomplish during the time you CAN work your business. Checking them off will give you satisfaction that those items are completed. For example, if there is someone you need to follow up with, put it on your to-do list. Call them quickly and cross it off when you are finished. Simple as that! It really is those simple actions everyday that over time will move your business forward to where you want to be!
#3. It’s ok… the laundry and dishes can wait!
You should not be doing laundry and cleaning dishes during your business hours! Too often, when we work our business from home we can easily get distracted. Reality is those dishes and that pile of laundry will be waiting for you no matter what. Don’t do them during business building hours. Focus on just your business during the time that you have given yourself and that’s it!
#4. Family time is family time…
I really want to stress here that when you are with your children, be there in the moment with them. Obviously you have noticed that they grow up too fast right?! Take in as much as you can in the moment. Don’t think about business and what you need to do when you are spending time with them. If you have planned your day accordingly, you will have accomplished your to-do list anyway and have worked your business during business hours. If you have noticed you forgot something, write it down on your to-do list and tackle that during your business hours. Family time should be family time period!
#5. Be realistic..
Be realistic of when you can work your business. If you only have a few hours at night to do things, then do them at night. Schedule those appointments accordingly. It isn’t feasible to work your business 20 hours a day when you are a busy mom. So give yourself a break, be realistic and don’t put too much pressure on yourself to perform!
Hope these tips can help you have a more productive day! Stephanie… signing off for now 🙂
