I have to be honest with you all, I just found out what SEO stood for earlier this year! It stands for Search Enging Optimization (SEO). I never understood the importance of a few key things to put into place every time I publish a blog post. The internet is an ever changing space and a few things have changed when it comes to getting found online. Now that you work at home and have a website/blog, how do you drive traffic to your site?
Here are a few SEO Tips To Follow
1. Write intriguing content.
The biggest turn off is when you go to a blog and its boring. Your content should be intriguing, informative AND show cases your personality. For example, if you are a food blogger and you never take pictures of your food and your post is very dry with just the recipe included. Chances are people will skim right over it and never come back to your site. Take pictures of your wonderful creations, talk about how delicious it is, show off your personality AND how much fun you are having in the kitchen! Your audience will be drooling at the mouth to make your recipe. Then you have a follower for life!
2. Choose Creative Headlines
This is so important because the title will be one of the first things to draw in an audience. They will instantly judge if the post is worth their time based off of that title. For example, I recently read a title that said “A letter to my husband, our toddler, business & sex life (Not in that order)” TOTALLY creative and super intriguing! Makes you want to click on it just to be nosey right?!
3. Sharing is Caring
Share your content throughout multiple social media sites. The more traffic from social media back to your website, the higher it ranks. The more visits your website gets, the higher it ranks as well.
EXTRA TIP: When sharing your post, tell your audience to like it, share it and comment. Seems simple but you have to tell people what you want them to do. 🙂
4. Include Keywords Throughout Your Article
Your keyword is the focus of your article. Don’t over do it but include your keyword multiple times throughout your post. Include it in the title, first sentence, and throughout the body of the post. Entering your keyword too many times can actually hurt your traffic. If you have a WordPress site I suggest to download the plugin WordPress SEO by Yoast. It will give you a page analysis and tell you exactly what to change within your post. I couldn’t live without it!
5. Stay regular!
Ok I’m not talking about eating Activia every day LOL. A regularly updated website will help your SEO rankings. This shows that there is fresh content being delivered on a regular basis.
I hope these tips helped you! Cheers to increasing your SEO! XOXO
P.S. Don’t forget to share and give me a shout out on Social Media!

Thanks for the tips. I am just starting to understand SEO – it really is a very confusing set of standards. You’ve broken it down well, and the tips you’ve given are very clear and easy to do.
I need to remember to ask my readers to share my posts!

Yes that will work too! Its not pushy to ask for a share just like how you phrased it. 🙂 Thanks for commenting!

I think asking for tweets or shares is kind of tacky, they either will on their or won’t, its up to them to decide. I certainly don’t want to beg for it because then I look bad, know what I mean?
I guess having a little snippet underneath the post isn’t too pushy, like, if you liked the blog post, why not share it via these social networks? Something like that.
But, to each their own. 🙂

I attended my very first blogging conference and didn’t know what SEO was. There was an SEO workshop and I sat there dumbfounded. Everyone else left the workshop talking about how incredible it was and my head was spinning. 🙂 That was several years ago, I’ve learned so much since then. Great tips!
